Who am I... let's see. I'm British (specifically Scottish, but living in England), homeschooled, and am a big fan of japanese anime and manga. I do a lot of drawing, and also writing. I've written a novel and am currently trying to get it published. You can check out the website I set up for it here.
I also sing and play keyboards, and was until recently part of a dance theatre company. I play Dungeons and Dragons.

About the Comic

This comic is based on the novel I was writing during NaNoWriMo. I reached the 50k word goal but never finished the book, so I've decided to try it out in another medium.

I have been known to describe Helix Industries as "Akira meets Jennifer Government" (for those of you who don't know, Akira is a japanese animated science fiction film about a psychic kid who goes crazy and starts destroying Tokyo, and Jennifer Government is a novel about an ultra-capatalist society) but the idea has been in my brain since before I saw (or read) either of those things. (I think. I may have read volume 1 of the Akira manga. I'm not sure.)

I'm also using this comic to explore themes of freedom and security. Both sides of the political fence are represented by the characters in this comic, but I'm not going to get into a discussion of my political beliefs here. However, given the story I'm telling in the comic, I think it's fair to admit that, yes, it was influenced by the current War on Terror. I did not set out to write a story about this, it just crept in, and you probably guessed it was influencing me anyway.
